Additional Terms to the STARSCAPES® Affiliate Terms
Updated: 2006-06-13 Reason for smaller percentage commissions for a "financed sale". Unfortunately some accounts turn out to be uncollectable.
Updated: 2006-10-25 (red phrase now included) In advertising on pay-per-search engines, including GOOGLE AdWords, or auction sites like (and including) EBAY, it is prohibited to use...
Updated: 2006-12-18 (red phrase now included) Non-Competition. You agree that during your affiliation and for a period of five years commencing on the termination date or expiration date of this Agreement, you will not, either as owner, partner, director, officer, trustee, employee, consultant, representative or agent or in any other capacity, engage in any other business in competition with any business presently conducted by us, including without limitation the marketing and distribution of ceiling-painting techniques, equipment, kits, merchandise, books, pamphlets, brochures or manuals, in printed or digital formats, anywhere in the world. Your continuation in the program is your acceptance.
Updated: 2007-12-05 The tradename STARSCAPES, STARSCAPESFX, STARSCAPES is not allowed in internet domain names, as it would then be "leaching" business away from the company as potential clients could reasonably become confused, when searching for STARSCAPES, as to the ownership and/or business relationship with the domain. And people searching directly for STARSCAPES will already have been "brought into the fold" by another affiliate or the company's advertising. A good affiliate advertises for the company to bring in "fresh blood", ie. prospective customers that the company may not have been able to reach on its own; prospects that have never heard of STARSCAPES before. A good affiliate is what affiliate programs were built for; hence the large commission. If you already have a domain utilizing the tradename as of this date ("grandfathered"), you will receive affiliate commissions, however they will be drastically reduced to $225.
Updated: 2008-03-17 Payout on Special Sale and DIY programs. Due to the poor economy, the affiliate commission on the StarBiz program, if reduced to $2995 will be $250 on a cold sale. $1995 sale price, (which will probably never happen) = commission of $200. The commission on the DIY program will be $100.

RE: Increased commission payout:
On financed purchases of sales over $3997, your commission payout was $200.
Now, you can retrieve $400 additional, as a bonus, once their balance is
completely paid off. (You'll be notified if the sale was financed. You
must then calendar this future (final payment) date and contact Joe after that
time, to claim and receive the bonus payment. This is your responsibility.
The contact details are at the top and bottom of
www.STARSCAPES.com ). Reason for
smaller percentage commissions for a "financed sale". Unfortunately some
accounts turn out to be uncollectable, and our automated system doesn't flag
payoffs. Non-financed transaction at full price over $3997 is still $750.
RE: Change of commission on
reduced sale prices:
Less commission payout on lower sale prices because when there is a lower
sales price, the "cream" from the top is removed, and the cost to do business
remains the same, so there is less "cream" (profit) to share. Percentage is
determined after the sale price is chosen and business expenses are figured.
For example, at this time (rate subject to change); on a $3450 sale,
you'll reap $400; 11.59%. On a $2997 sale, you'll reap $250; 8.34%
RE: Full commission based on
"cold" lead:
In advertising on pay-per-search engines, including GOOGLE AdWords, it is
prohibited to use our trademark name as keywords. "STARSCAPES" or "STARSCAPE" or
"STARSCAPES FX" or "STARSCAPES F/X" are not permissible. Those words are not
allowed in domains either. Doing so will prohibit your commissions being paid to
you. Why not use those STARSCAPES words? A good affiliate advertises for the
company to bring in "fresh blood"; prospective customers that the company may
not have been able to reach on its own; prospects that have never heard of
STARSCAPES before. A key word like "home business opportunities", etc. is an
example of a good keyword. Using the STARSCAPES words is leaching off the
company, as people searching directly for STARSCAPES will already have been
"brought into the fold" by another affiliate or the company's advertising. A
good affiliate is what affiliate programs were built for; hence the large
commission. A 100% affiliate is more like an "outside salesperson", going
"door to door" trying to "drum up" business and actively markets our products to
those as explained above.
RE: Smaller commission based on
"warm" lead:
Reason for smaller percentage commissions for a company
advertisement/website induced "magazine sale". This is a customer that the
company's advertising brought in. Not your advertising. However,
they did hit your site afterwards, for more information, which could have
weighted the "teeter point" in making a buying decision; so we reward you with a
"warm" lead commission of 30% of normal commission, $225, on a full priced
transaction. On a $3450 sale price, your "warm" commission would currently
be $120. On a $2997 sale, your commish would be $100.
RE: Current STARSCAPES
customers or licensees as "30% Affiliate":
Licensees that have our affiliate banners, (including buttons, textlinks,
etc.); that cause a prospect to click on their affiliate banner, qualify to
become a "30% Affiliate". They will receive 30% of the normal commission, as the
customer will not have been "fresh blood", and most likely has already been
driven to the STARSCAPES from our advertising or other websites, and is merely
searching for more information or looking for another Artist to contact. A "30%
Affiliate" is like an "inside salesperson".
RE: "Hard sell"
commission:
If the prospect hasn't made a purchase within 10 days of first visiting
STARSCAPES.COM, our phone salesperson contacts the prospective customer to
convert and "close" the sale. He'll get 1/2 of your commission.
You'll get 1/2 of your commission.
RE: Summary of best
customer to obtain cold lead, full commission:
(A.) Advertise on your own... with flyers, door hangers, bulletin boards,
local newspapers, magazines, and on the web, using key words like: the best
money maker, home business, part-time job, business opportunity, ceiling star
murals, etc. (B.) Bring that traffic to your website where the
coded STARSCAPES banners or text links are. (C.) Get them to
click on the link or banner.
